From 18 November 2025, identity verification becomes mandatory, and the following rules will apply:
New directors must verify their identity when:
(a) incorporating a new company; or
(b) being appointed to an existing company.
• existing directors must confirm their identity as part of their next annual confirmation statement, during a 12-month transition period, starting from 18 November 2025.
Every PSC must submit a statement confirming they have verified their identity, along with their Companies House personal code, within a 14-day period. The timing of this period depends on individual circumstances:
(a) existing PSC - must provide a personal code within the first 14 days of their birth month;
(b) new PSCs (after 18 November 2025) - 14-day period starts from the date they register with Companies House; and
(c) if the PSC is also a director of the same company - 14-day period starts from the company’s confirmation statement date.
We can only provide in-person verification in our Aberdeen-based office, and are unable to conduct any online verification at this time. During the verification we will also take a photo of you as evidence that you were here. You will require:
• A valid biometric passport
• A valid UK driving licence
During the verification we will ask you your full name, any former names, date of birth, email address, home address and address history for the last 12 months.
The email address you use must be unique to yourself and not shared with anyone else. Consider that the verification code is personal and you should not use a company email address unless you are sure that you will not leave that company and lose access to it.
The price for a simple identity verification check is £72 including VAT. More complex identity verification checks are subject to additional fees. Where a check is more complex due to gender transition, relying on either a Gender Recognition Certificate or a Deed Poll, and all other checks are in order, no additional fees will be charged beyond the £72 including VAT.
